Simon and Garfunkel rolled through the Bay Area this week on their reunion tour. Like many other aging rockers who need the money (retirement, kids’ college tuition, etc.) or just can’t resist the lure of easy money, they’re putting up with life on the road (and with each other) for the big bling-bling.
I grew up listening to S&G, and would have gone, if not for the fact that I saw them ‘reunited’ at a Bridge School Benefit in the early 1990’s (and they were rather awful then.) Well, at least they’re both alive: we have the chance to see them perform. There’s lots of other performers I wish I’d seen in concert before they passed on. A reunion tour of the Beatles. Astor Piazzolla. Ella Fitzgerald. John Coltrane. . .
