It’s tiresome. I’ve already turned in my ballot, so nothing in any political campaigning could change my vote. But still I’m stuck being bombarded with all the ads, the media chatter, the flyers, etc.
Likewise with PBS or member-supported radio stations pledge drives: they broadcast a lot less content/programming, with more interuptions from hosts appealing for support. Even if you do your bit and send in your pledge early on in the drive, you’re still stuck listening to the hosts talking for the remainder of the several-day drive. (Although I must say I have a lot of admiration for how all these professional hosts can sound so extemporaneous and natural and varied in pitching the same mantra ‘send us money’.)
